About Us

We have assembled a staff recognized for their excellence and abilities within the Audio-Video industry. Our installers have expertise in a variety of fields… from programming lighting controls to digital cinema to outdoor audio… It is this diversified background that helps makes our company an industry leader in both residential and commercial markets. Here is a little about the key members of Next Electronics.

Dan McLaughlin, President and Founder

Dan began working in the audio-visual industry in 1982 for an international London-based company where he worked through the ranks and became North American Technical Services Manager. From there he worked for seven years as Project Manager at one of the nation’s largest AV companies, specializing in and completing over 500 distant learning, telemedicine and telejustice projects. (Read a letter of recommendation from the Governor of Iowa)

Dan started Next Electronics Systems, Inc. in 2001. Over the years he has assembled a team of the most knowledgeable and skilled installers and programmers in Central Texas.

Terri Caldwell, Office Manager Super-Star

Terri became a valuable member of our team in 2004. She has over ten years in the AV industry. She runs a tight ship and her extensive product knowledge helps to ensure all parts and products are in house on time to keep our projects right on schedule. We’re not certain, but we suspect her uncanny ability at memorizing numbers is a super-human power.

Scott Ferguson, Project and Sales Manager

Scott works closely with our clients throughout every stage of a project: from educating them in order to help find the best match of products and design… to training the client to easily use the system. Scott and Next also work closely with other trades to ensure our clients vision becomes a reality, seamlessly. Scott started working with electronics in 1989. Since joining the Next team in 2004, Scott has designed and managed an impressive list of large residential and commercial systems.

Adrian Madison, Installation Technician

Adrian has received the highest level of training for installation and programming of Lutron HomeWorks systems. He is experienced in of a variety of security, lighting and automation systems. He has been with Next since 2003 and in the industry for over ten.

Aaron Netherton, Installation Technician

Aaron began working in the AV industry over seven years ago in Oklahoma where he outfitted stadiums and churches with sound and video systems. Aaron moved to Austin 4 years ago to join Next Electronics.

What gives Next Electronics our leading edge?

  Documentation
Recognizing importance of excellent documentation in our industry, we provide As-Built Drawings and CAD Drawings of all the low voltage systems in the house to the architect, builder and homeowner. We also provide to the homeowner, an organized binder of manuals for them to reference if they have any questions about any systems and products.

  Installation
Next maintains the highest standards and professionalism which is apparent in every aspect of our installations. We often work closely with other trades to ensure the system meets the aesthetic requirements as well as being technically integrated. Utilizing CAD Drawings, we wire and label the system very carefully to allow for future upgrades and expansion. The final result is a professionally installed and well documented system that meets the client’s needs and blends seamlessly into the design and style of the home.

  Functionality
Our goal is to always design a system and pick components that are easy to operate, learn and remember, so that someone with limited technological understanding will be able to operate it comfortably. We maintain consistency from room to room by utilizing same user interface and in cases where multiple pieces of the same component type are required, the same model will be used throughout the home.

  Products
Next is very familiar with 100’s of industry products. The products we chose for our projects are from manufacturers whose reputations are proven time and time again. The end result is better components with better warranties and technical support. We carefully choose products for ease of future upgrades and expansion in mind, ensuring that our systems will be more immune from requiring massive overhauls in the future.

  Training
Next will be present at the completion of the project to train everyone who needs to know how to operate it. We feel that adequate training is very important.

  Service
We work closely with every client through the entire building process and even after the home is complete. We stand by our work with a 4 year workmanship warranty on installations – that’s 3 times longer than any of our competitors! Our customers reap the long term rewards of a team who responds to their specific needs today and tomorrow.
